    • DRABC protocol for assessing emergencies

    • Recognition and treatment of angina, heart attacks, strokes, seizures
    • Understanding hypoxia (types, signs, first aid)
    • Choking (mild vs. severe, back blows, abdominal thrusts, infant response)

    • Arterial, venous, capillary bleeding
    • Embedded object injuries and wound packing
    • Shock identification and response
    • Tourniquet application and when to use it
  4. Burns & Scalds
    • Thermal, chemical, radiation, and electrical burns
    • First aid based on burn severity (superficial, partial, full-thickness)
    • S.C.A.L.D. method and safe cooling techniques
  5. Infection Control in First Aid
    • PPE use, hand hygiene, safe disposal of dressings
    • Cleaning protocols and minimising cross-contamination
    • CQC-regulated care guidance for first aid infection prevention
  6. First Aid Kits
    • BS 8599-1 standards
    • What should and shouldn’t be in a workplace first aid kit
    • Routine checks, maintenance, and storage best practice
  7. Training Delivery Skills
    • How to teach adult learners
    • Designing sessions and delivering engaging content
    • Assessing practical competence
    • Giving feedback and managing group scenarios
  8. Assessment and Certification
    • Micro-teaching: each participant delivers a mini first aid session
