About the course
This Epilepsy Awareness and Management course equips care workers with essential knowledge and skills to support individuals living with epilepsy. The course covers the neurological basis of epilepsy, types of seizures, effective management strategies, and legal responsibilities. Learners will develop the confidence to respond to seizures, manage triggers, and provide compassionate care tailored to individual needs.
What will you learn
- Understanding Epilepsy: Gain insights into the neurological causes, risk factors, and impact of epilepsy across different life stages, including newborns, children, pregnant women, and the elderly.
- Types of Epilepsy and Seizures: Learn about the various forms of epilepsy, characteristics of seizures, and rare or uncommon types to enhance recognition and response.
- Seizure Management: Develop skills to respond effectively during and after seizures, ensuring safety, comfort, and emotional support.
- Triggers and Mimicking Conditions: Understand common seizure triggers and how to distinguish epilepsy from other conditions such as panic attacks or fainting.
- Diagnosis and Treatment: Explore diagnostic tools, treatment options including medications and dietary therapies, and strategies for long-term care.
- Supporting Individuals with Epilepsy: Learn about medication management, creating safe environments, and providing emotional and practical support for individuals and their families.
